Workspace Basics

Create, switch, rename, update, or delete workspaces

Workspace Basics is for managing the workspace you are currently using. You can also create a new workspace or switch to another workspace from the workspace switcher.

What You Can Do

On this page, an owner can:

  • Switch between workspaces
  • Create a new workspace
  • Change the workspace name
  • Upload or replace the workspace avatar
  • Delete the workspace

If you are not the owner, the editing controls are disabled.

Switch Workspaces

Use the workspace switcher in the settings sidebar to move between workspaces you can access. The current workspace is marked in the list.

You can also open the user menu in the app sidebar and choose Switch Workspace.

When you switch workspaces, Kamay updates the current workspace context. If you were viewing a conversation or project detail page, Kamay returns you to the app home so you do not continue working inside the previous workspace context.

Create a Workspace

Open the workspace switcher and choose Create new Workspace.

In the creation dialog, you can:

  • Enter a workspace name
  • Upload an optional workspace avatar when upload is available

After the workspace is created, Kamay reloads your workspace list and switches you to the new workspace.

Update Workspace Info

You can edit the workspace name directly and save it with the Save button.

You can also upload a workspace avatar if avatar upload is enabled.

Tip: The page only enables saving when the name has changed.

Delete a Workspace

Deletion is a protected action.

Before Kamay lets you delete the workspace:

  • You must be the owner
  • The workspace must not be the last workspace you own
  • The workspace must not have a negative credit balance
  • The workspace must not have an active paid subscription

You also need to type the workspace name in the confirmation dialog before deletion can continue.

Warning: If the workspace still has remaining credits, Kamay will show a reminder before deletion.

Common Issues

If the delete button is disabled, check whether:

  • A paid subscription is still active
  • The workspace has negative credits
  • This is the last workspace you own
